One of the goals of the Manifesto is to expose its readers to music and bands that they may have never experienced.  Once a month I will be posting a playlist for your listening enjoyment.  Files will only be posted for a very limited time, so catch ‘em while they’re hot.

Monthly Mix: Hippies

The Format - The First Single
The Format is my new favorite band. This track comes from their first record Interventions and Lullabies, which is mostly rock, but strays into hippy land on a few occassions.

The Format- The Compromise
From their second record Dog Problems, that replaces hippy tendencies with ragtime and big Queen-style vocals. This great song isn't even the best on the record - it's just got that rad Roland electric piano riff that I, of course - can't resist. Pick up both records.

HellogoodbyeAll of Your Love
TRL cuties Hellogoodbye followup their self-titled buzz bin EP, with the horribly titled Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! On first listen, the music is as childish as the title, but after a few spins it starts to grow on you. It's a nice bit of empty calorie slice of synth pop.

David Bazan - Fewer Broken Pieces

The Lemonheads - Let's Just Laugh

The Draft - New Eyes Open

The Killers - Sam's Town

Gym Class Heroes - Clothes Off

Samiam - Storm Clouds [slightly explicit]
